CSIT :“Sport is also a means of protecting the territory, the Games of September are confirmed. We are close to the Municipalities in the resistance”
Cervia, the 15th of June 2023 – Never change a winning team. The organizing committee of the World Sports Games, the world amateur games promoted by CSIT and brought to Italy by AiCS, stands alongside Romagna in his work of reconstruction, post-flood. “The CSIT confederation has relaunched fundraising for the Region to all its members around the world and has reiterated its firm belief of choosing Romagna as the best destination for the next World Games,” the organizing committee specified. “Sport – comments the president of CSIT, the Italian Bruno Molea – is a lever of resistance, tourism promotion and inclusion. We are determined and delighted to support the Municipalities already involved in the World Sports Games and to stand by them in this difficult moment”.
The Games, presented just a couple of days before the terrible floods that hit the area, will be held in Romagna from the 5th to the 10th of September and will involve 7 Municipalities – Cervia as leader, and then Cesena, Forlì, Cesenatico, Riccione, Misano Adriatico and Ravenna. In some cases, the damage suffered by the flooded facilities have forced a change of program on the planned sports championships (30 in total), but all the changes to the structures and services were managed in full collaboration with the Municipalities and the organizing committee without leaving any of them involved alone. “On the gadget that we will give to the over 3,000 athletes already registered – registrations will close at the end of June, recalls Molea -, the well-known slogan #RomagnaTinBota will shine and we will dedicate the opening ceremony to the resistance capacity of this land full of strength”. The ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday the 6th of September from 4.30 pm in the center of Cervia, will see all the Nations present parade from the Grand Hotel of Cervia to Piazza Garibaldi, for a celebration of the whole territory that AiCS and the rest of the organizing committee will give to the city and to its inhabitants. Therefore, the access is obviously free.
The World Sports Games, promoted by CSIT, are organized in Italy by the “Associazione Italiana Cultura e Sport” – AiCS, together with ACSI, in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Region and the Municipality of Cervia and with the patronage of the Municipalities of Cesena, Forlì, Cesenatico , Riccione, Misano Adriatico, Ravenna. They enjoy the support of Allianz and Tecnocopi and the media partnership of Corriere Romagna, Radio Bruno, Teleromagna.
The WSG are a plastic-free multi-sport event: they include over 30 international sports championships and exhibitions, and a series of collateral cultural events including the training course for journalists on inclusive sports journalism.
